MACHANG: Egypt is keen to harness Malaysian expertise in drawing up master plans for development along the Malaysian model similar to that in Putrajaya and the Iskandar project in Johor Baru, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said here.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to that effect was signed between parties from both countries when he led a mission to the Middle East last week, he said.
"Malaysia was represented by a housing development company with experience in development in both the areas," he told reporters after opening an Aidilfitri reception at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kelantan, here last night.
Economic corridor offers good opportunities for Japanese investors
JOHOR BARU: The Japanese government sees Iskandar Malaysia offering good opportunities for Japanese investors and companies and will take proactive measures to promote the special economic corridor to them, said Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia Masahiko Horie.
The ambassador said he was impressed with the developments taking place in Iskandar Malaysia since his last visit to Johor two years ago. “A lot of projects are now being implemented and I am confident that Iskandar is moving on the right track since its launch,” he said yesterday after a short visit to the state.

It is learnt that the Singapore high commission in Kuala Lumpur has earmarked Level 35 of the Johor Baru City Square office tower as the address of the consulate office.
It is expected to enter into a leasing agreement with tower developer Merit Properties soon.
Kuwait Finance House (KFH) successful policy affiliated with its Asian real estate fund was crowned by a profit of 40 percent over the past three years, while investors of local real estate portfolio are to receive quarterly profit of 6 percent by the end of September, KFH said on Monday The policy which focuses on assets which high returns based on thorough risk studies led to this success, said the VIP Financial Service Department Manager at KFH Talal Al-Nisf.
The annual distribution of six percent of the profit would be distributed after the portfolio is liquidized, he added.
MALAYSIA Airlines Cargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo), the cargo arm of Malaysia Airlines, has started a weekly two-way freighter flight from Kuala Lumpur to Narita, Japan, via Johor Baru as part of its efforts to explore new areas of business.
MASkargo will fly the B747-400F from Kuala Lumpur every Saturday and from Narita every Sunday.
Among the cargo to be transported are electronic equipment and gadgets, garments as well as perishable items such as flowers and tuna fish.
In a statement issued last week, MASkargo managing director Shahari Sulaiman said the new service out of Johor will help strengthen its position as one of Asia's best air cargo carrier.
