Dedicated Number for Public Enquiries and Feedback
JOHOR BAHRU, Monday 4th May:- Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), the regulatory authority mandated to plan, promote and facilitate the emergence of Iskandar Malaysia as a strong and sustainable metropolis of international standing, today launched an Info-line dedicated to its RMK-9 projects.
With the RMK-9 projects taking off early this year, the IRDA RMK-9 Info-line (+607-2183100) aims to create a platform to gather public enquiries and feedback more efficiently and effectively.
Besides calling in, enquiries can also be sent via email to rmk9info@irda.com.my. IRDA will also be looking into other channels such as via SMS in the near future.
IRDA Chief Executive Office Harun Johari said the Info-line could also be a channel for the general public to get more information and updates on the projects – which include road, river cleaning and drainage initiatives.
“The Infoline is a two-way communication channel between IRDA and the public. They can call in for enquiries, to give suggestions and feedback, and on the other hand, IRDA can keep the people informed and also take note of their grouses, if any.
“Although we adopt best practices for our RMK-9 projects, we are always open to suggestions and feedback. With the information collated from the hotline callers and also e-mails, we can have an insight on matters that most concern the public and we then can carry out the projects more effectively,” said Harun.
The Hotline, manned by an internal team, will address queries and feedback pertaining all matters related to the RMK-9 projects under the Authority’s purview.
Under RMK9, the Federal Government has allocated a total of RM6.83bil for Iskandar Malaysia, of which IRDA has awarded RM1.69bil worth of projects comprising 23 projects in total.
Seven of these projects are road packages worth RM1.45bil. Another eleven projects are drainage projects worth RM122.4mil while another six projects worth RM113.3mil are river cleaning works.
The construction and execution period for the RMK-9 projects will create an economic spillover effect especially for the sub-contractors, building supply vendors, food outlets, telecommunications services and other local businesses which will directly or indirectly provide goods and services to workers involved in the RMK9 works.
The Federal and State governments are committed to expediting the RMK9 projects so that the people benefit from these infra-structure projects.
