The federal government has agreed to part finance the infrastructure for the 404.69-ha Senai Hi-Tech Park.
International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed said the Johor government, through the State Economic Planning Unit (EPU), had applied for a grant amounting to RM300 million from the total cost of RM515 million.
"The federal government has agreed in principle to finance part of the infrastructure cost and we will meet the state and federal EPUs to discuss the matter soon."
He told reporters this after chairing the Joint Industrial Coordination Committee Meeting with the Johor government here Tuesday.
The Senai Hi-Tech Park is located near Sultan Ismail International Airport and the Tanjung Pelepas, Johor and Tanjung Langsat ports.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said that with the high technology park, more foreign investors would be drawn to the Iskandar Malaysia development region.
Earthworks had started and were expected to be completed in 18 months, he said.
He said the state government had also applied for a RM40 million grant to build industrial water supply facilities for Tanjung Langsat.
